First Communion (Eucharist)


Children are usually prepared for the sacrament of Eucharist (Communion) when they are in grade 2. The Grade 2 program is a catechesis on the Eucharist (Mass). At the parish level the immediate preparation for the reception of Communion is provided. It includes formation for parents and children. Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to reception of Communion.

Registration and Parent Orientation Meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 5 at 7:00 pm at OLPH Parish. All parents are required to be present at this meeting. Please bring a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate even if he/she was baptized at OLPH.

Two parent-child retreats will be held at OLPH Church. The orientation for First Communion will take place at the retreat. Choose the retreat that is convenient for you:

  • Sun. March 20, 2011 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Sat. April 16, 2011 9:00am – 12 noon

Reception of First Communion: When the child is ready, usually in the Easter season.
